“Leaving the rat race behind, a family of five embarks on the journey of a lifetime. They travel the ends of the earth searching for a new perspective on life. During five years on six continents they seek out tribal sages never filmed or interviewed before.
DOWN to EARTH reveals the deep wisdom they found and its power to transform lives.”

A few weeks ago I saw this film and it really made a big impression on me.
In 2004, Dutch couple Rolf Winters and Renata Heinen bought a piece of woodland along the North shores of Lake Michigan, on the ‘Land of the Dancing Spirits’ and started a new life with their 3 young girls.

Inspired by Native American shaman Nowaten (‘he who listens’) and the connected way of life of these Native Americans, Rolf and Renata wanted to make film about Nowaten and other Earth keepers, because they felt that their wisdom had to be documented. For a year, the family traveled to special places all over the world to meet and talk to these Earth keepers: medicine people, wisdom keepers, shamans, healers and spiritual leaders. What Rolf and Renata thought would be their biggest challenge, traveling with their 3 children, often was an advantage. The keepers loved that they were traveling with their family and easily opened up to them.

Down to earth is a beautiful film, interesting for all who like travel, culture and nature. But of course it is about the deeper message about us humans, life and nature. I feel it is a must see for everybody.

More about this film, the family and the Earth keepers you can read on the Down to earth website. Here you will also find the coming cinema screenings and events in the Netherlands.
