Recently, I visited Robuust, the first packaging free store in Belgium. Robuust tackles the problem of waste at the root by taking packaging out of the production process. This allows them to save natural resources, decrease the amount of CO2 produced, decrease the amount of leftovers and overall waste bags. Moreover, as locally produced goods are always their first choice, it stimulates local economy. Being the first store in Belgium with this concept, Robuust wants to actively show clients how a sustainable lifestyle can be fun, time-saving, cost-effective and generally refreshing.
Waste free food
Robuust is your local specialty shop for organic, seasonal and waste-free food. Delivering high-quality products to customers is extremely important to them. As a result, they hope not only to attract environmentally conscious people, but also anyone who enjoys beautiful, tasty and natural products. The waste-free concept came about as a reaction to today’s focus on “sustainability” and “value for money”.
Robuust does not claim to hold the answer to the problem of pollution, waste or climate change. However, they do try to take a step in the right direction. It is their ambition to create a coalition of zero waste shops because together we are stronger.
Conscious shopping
People are more conscious of their ecological impact on our planet and are ready to make a small effort to minimize this impact. Robuust wants to make doing groceries fun again and offers a new way of shopping in a relaxed, yet modern atmosphere. Customers will find food here that is not available anywhere else and that is healthy and all natural. And of course, packaging free!
